How it works

About Peggy’s dream stay

Our Reel “Peggy’s Pick: The Langham, Fifth Ave” is a comedic dramatization of Peggy’s dream stay. It is not a review, and Peggy has not stayed there. Dramatization. Visuals are illustrative, not actual hotel photos.

New York City hotel FAQ

What's the best neighborhood in New York City for first-time visitors?

Midtown Manhattan is the usual pick for a first trip. It's close to Times Square, Broadway, Central Park and the Empire State Building, with subway lines in every direction. The trade-off is crowds and noise. The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue is at 400 Fifth Avenue in Midtown.

Should I stay in Midtown or Lower Manhattan?

Choose Midtown if you want to walk to shows and the big sights. It's also near New York Penn Station (31st Street and 8th Avenue), which has NJ TRANSIT trains to Newark Airport. Choose Lower Manhattan, around the Financial District and Battery Park City, if you want a calmer base near the water. PATH trains at the World Trade Center connect to New Jersey. We'll compare both for your dates.

What are the most family-friendly areas to stay in NYC?

Families often choose the Upper West Side. It sits between Central Park and Riverside Park and is close to the American Museum of Natural History. The Upper East Side is another good option near Central Park, and Midtown works for short, sightseeing-heavy trips. Tell us your kids' ages, and we'll suggest hotels with the right room setup.

Where should I stay the night before a cruise from New York?

Start with your terminal, which is listed in your cruise documents. The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is at 711 12th Avenue on Manhattan's West Side, so a Midtown West hotel keeps the ride short. The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, near the NYC Ferry's Red Hook landing. Cape Liberty is in Bayonne, New Jersey, about 9 miles from Newark Airport, so a New Jersey or Newark-area hotel often makes sense. We'll match the hotel to your terminal.

Which NYC airport is easiest to reach from my hotel?

It depends on where you stay. From JFK, the AirTrain connects to subway trains at Howard Beach and Jamaica, and to the Long Island Rail Road at Jamaica. From LaGuardia, the free Q70 LaGuardia Link bus runs to the subway at Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue and 74 St–Broadway. From Newark, AirTrain Newark connects to NJ TRANSIT trains that reach New York Penn Station in about 30 minutes. Check current construction advisories before you fly.

When are New York City hotel rates lowest?

NYC Tourism says January and February offer some of the year's best hotel values, with average daily rates are often lower in those months. Its NYC Hotel Week promotion also runs each winter. Prices change with dates and demand, so we check live rates for your stay.

Can you help me book The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue?

Yes. Send us your dates, and we'll check availability for The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue, or for any other New York City hotel you have in mind. If it doesn't fit, we'll suggest alternatives nearby. Our Peggy's Pick Reel is a comedic dramatization, not a review.
